And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. - Hebrews 6:15 New King James Version
It pays to wait.
God promised Abraham to give him a son. This promise was fulfilled after 25 years! Abraham waited for 25 long years before he had Isaac. God is capable of giving Abraham a child the very moment He uttered His promise, but He didn’t do it because He had a plan for Abraham. Abraham needed to do something for God. Abraham had to leave his home and go to the place where God would build a great nation from Abraham's descendants.
We wait and hope. We hope for things to happen in due time. Good if what we hoped for will happen but frustrating if it doesn’t. This is human nature. As cliché, as it may sound, God has a greater reason why He made you wait. God wants to do something great in your life before He gives you "the one". God wants to transform you, to prepare you before you open a new chapter of your life.
Trust God's plan and wait for His time. He will answer what you have been praying for even more than what you expect.
Father in heaven, You alone are truly great. Father, my thoughts are not Your thoughts. Give me more patience to wait and understand Your plans. Lift me up when I get frustrated. Fill my heart with joy while waiting for "the one" person you have created for me. All these things I ask and pray in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Something To Reflect On: Do you pray and ask God about your "soon-to-be-partner"?
But I want you to be without care. He who is unmarried cares for the things of the Lord—how he may please the Lord. But he who is married cares about the things of the world—how he may please his wife. There is a difference between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she who is married cares about the things of the world—how she may please her husband. - 1 Corinthians 7:32-34 New King James Version
Singlehood is an opportunity to be closer to God.
Being single is a privilege. This gives you the freedom to do the things that you want without any distractions. This gives you more time to focus on your passion. And above all, this is your opportunity to be closer to God. You can give God your undivided attention and serve Him wholeheartedly.
Do not be pressured by others asking you about why you are still single. Do not allow pressure to rush you into getting married. There is a perfect time for this.
Instead of asking God "why?", thank Him for the blessing. Do not dwell on the thought that being single is being lonely. Look at the positive side and try to unbox the perks of being single. Be a living testimony to other singles out there and tell them that singlehood is an exciting journey!
Father in heaven, above anyone, You know me very well. You know what's best for me. Thank you for giving me the privilege to know You more and to establish a stronger relationship with you. Help me oh Lord to see the gift of singlehood and to be a testimony to others that life is not about looking for a spouse, but it is about our service to You. I trust your plans oh Lord. And all these things I thank and pray in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Something To Reflect On: What are the positive things singlehood has brought you?
Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. - Psalm 37:4 New King James Version
God knows what your heart desires. God sees your longing. He didn't give yet the answer that you've been waiting because He wants you to commit to Him and acknowledge that He is the only one who can satisfy your needs.
When you find joy in your service with the Lord, you will know His plans more. When you delight in His presence, waiting will never be a burden for you because you perfectly know that God is in control and He is preparing the best for you.
Worship the Lord more, draw closer to Him, for He has the answer to everything.
Father in heaven, You are an amazing God. You are worthy of all the praises and glory. Lord, You know the desire of my heart and I trust that you will grant this desire in Your perfect time. Help me, Jesus, to endure the waiting. Help me Lord to always find the joy in serving You. All these I ask and pray in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Something To Reflect On: How can you find delight in serving the Lord?
So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed only a few days to him because of the love he had for her. - Genesis 29:20 New King James Version
Waiting is worth it for the right person.
Jacob served Laban (Rachel's father) and waited for seven years to marry Rachel. Unfortunately, he was tricked. He married Leah instead of Rachel. But Jacob loved Rachel that he worked for another seven years so he could marry her. Jacob waited for how many years to marry Rachel, but he didn’t mind the long wait because he knew that Rachel is worth waiting.
You don’t have to rush things especially when it comes to marriage. Getting married is not a race. Rushing things may be risky and may only lead you to a miserable life. But to be with the right person that you truly love gives you a different sense of happiness.
Trust that God makes all things beautiful in His time. He is writing the best love story for you.
Father in heaven, You are holy and mighty. You know what’s best for me. You put all things in place. Jesus, I know that you are preparing the best love story for me. Help me see the value of waiting. Give me the wisdom to make the right decisions. Lead me oh Lord to the right person whom I can be with for the rest of my life. All these I ask and pray in the might name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Something To Reflect On: How would you want your love story to be?
FIRE UP FRIDAY
For your Maker is your husband, The Lord of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth. - Isaiah 54:5 New King James Version
Cheer up, God loves you!
Do not worry about you being single. If you think nobody will take good care of you because you are alone, well you are wrong. God will be your bridegroom and soon you will be with Him. He will own and take good care of you just like a husband to his wife. God will do the part of a husband who will love you and will give you pure joy.
With God, you are secured. Unlike other people, God's love is unconditional. Remember, God made you out of nothing, and He knows all of you. He knows your darkest secret, yet He still loves you. Whether or not a partner will be given to you here on earth, always be excited and look forward to the coming of your great bridegroom, Jesus Christ!
Father in heaven, You are the King of all kings and the Lord of all lords. Thank you for your unfailing love. Thank you for assuring me that You are there for me. In my singlehood, I am not alone because You are always with me, and that one day You will come and bring me to Your kingdom where there is pure joy, full of love, and peace. I don’t deserve all your love but transform me Lord so I will be that person who is deserving to be with you in eternity. All these things I ask and pray in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Something To Reflect On: What are your preparations before the coming of your bridegroom?
SLIDE BACK SATURDAY
But as it is written:
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
1 Corinthians 2:9 New King James Version
Hold on to what God has promised you.
When you feel there's no more hope, remember the promises of God. God never gives empty promises. He always fulfills His words. You have a God who is a promise keeper. God is working in unexpected ways. There are greater things that are in store for you.
Believe that the Lord is preparing something that is beyond your imagination not just in this life but more so in eternity. There are a lot of things to look forward to. God will give the favor to those who love Him and who obey His word.
Father in heaven, You are the Alpha and Omega. You are the God of yesterday, today, and forever. You have given us promises and I know when You promised, You will fulfill. Your words will not be in vain oh Lord. Thank you for the assurance that You are always with me and You are at work in ways that I cannot see. Lord, please remind me of Your words and comfort me especially in times of loneliness. I love you Jesus, and you deserve all the glory and praises. Amen.
Something To Reflect On: What did God promise you that have already been fulfilled?
SLOW DOWN SUNDAY
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. - Matthew 6:33 New King James Version
Seek God first, rest in Him.
When things are already beyond your control, the best solution to that is to call unto God. Finding true love is not an easy thing. It takes time, fervent prayers, and more discernment. But you can't make the best choice without the guidance of God. You have to seek God first before you seek for your mate. By seeking God, you will know your value, and you will understand what you deserve.
Stop worrying about your timetable. Ignore those people pressuring you to get married. Instead, focus on your service to God and how you can be better in His eyes. Seek God above all things and find comfort in Him. Allow God to work in you, and to match the perfect "one" for you.
Father in heaven, You are my Comforter, my Deliverer. Above anyone, You know what and who I deserve. Please take away all my worries. Please take away all the pressure surrounding me. Comfort me oh Lord. Carry me especially in times when I feel that I am all alone. Please never leave me, Lord. I entrust my life to You oh God. And all these things I ask and pray in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
